Can anyone tell me what this is and what if anything I should do about them?

It's in my refugium. I believe I have more than one.

bristle worms. Do not touch them with bare fingers. It can be really irritating. They are nomal detritis cleaners. Part of normal reefs. Live in rock and sand. Good until get too many, but usually not an issue.
Thank you.

It's amazing how different life forms just "appear" in a reef tank.
I have had this tank up and running for 5 years and never saw these until recently.

Often wondered what gloves are recc to use? Just latex or a thick pair?

IME as long as your gentle with the worms there's really no need to wear gloves. I was moving them from one of my older tanks to a younger one by hand all the time without any problems.

When I move rock around or do heavy clean outs, I always end up with bristle worm bristles and it is so irritating. If you are just moving one, it is fine, but when you grab a rock with one, ouch. FME
If i mess with rock a lot, I put on heavy gloves.
