Good afternoon, I am finding these root looking things crawling across my glass, a couple weeks ago I saw one to the back of the tank end it just seem to of melted away in about 12 hours. Now today there’s two at the front of the tank. Could someone ID for me

How old is the tank? I’ve seen some pretty weird things like that come off of live rock I picked up and tossed in a tank.

Its a form of stringy slime/mucus emitted from bacteria . It does separate and goes towards filter overflows and easily netted and siphoned also.

Probably bacteria like vet said. Do you have any nutrients in the tank? I’ve noticed bacteria takes hold more when it’s low or depleted. Unless a coral slimed and it’s just that floating around lol

I test my tank on a weekly basis, but I’ll check it again tomorrow. I’d also done a WC earlier this week.

I don’t need anything specific. What was your last nitrate reading?

0 nitrate just taken yesterday, might just be that I’m a little low on nutrition, I did just introduce a clam about 3 weeks ago and I think he’s absorbing more than I’m used to.
