What is killing my scopa tang ?

I bought a scopa tang ard 2 weeks ago,
He underwent qt for 2 weeks, eats well and readily pecks algae.
He did fine in qt, so I did not treat him for anything, just observed him and tried to fatten him up.

I added him to my dt 4 days ago, he was fine for the first 3 days , swimming and pecking loads of hair algae.

Fast forward to this morning he refuses to eat and is breathing heavy, I am preparing a rally bath and a qt tank for him as I type this.

His body has a reddish rash which points me to urenoma potentially.

Around 3 days ago I added a yellow wrasse, which I also qted for 2 weeks, currently eats well and shows no signs of disease.(other than temporarily flashing against the sand this morn)

Current tank inhabitants include 2 storm clownfish which I have had for 4 months, eats well and swims well.

Im wondering if I have urenoma in my system but it does not go after my clowns ? If I do how do i protect any new fish that go into my dt?

Tangs rarely get Uronema (I’ve never seen a case). I don’t see signs of the classic Uronema lesion either. Rapid breathing is only seen with Uronema right before the fish dies.
I wonder if this could be velvet? The rapid breathing is a sign of that and the fish does look a bit “dusty”.

The scopa tang is getting more lethargic/ sturggling to stay afloat I dont think itll make it anything I can do now for the other fishes?
I have a yellow wrasse and 2 clowns

Moving the other three fish to a treatment tank and dosing with Coppersafe would help if it is velvet.
You could try a five minute freshwater dip on the tang - it is probably too far gone, but if not, that would buy it some time.

Heres a pic of my clownfish today, I couldnt get a good shot of the wrasse, ill move them to qt, unfortubately I dont have coppersafe at hand, only cupramine and ruby reef rally pro, ill try to get the copper safe tmr then.

I just want to add that if you do observational QT only, two weeks is not long enough. I have had disease show at 4-5 weeks. I would do 6-8 weeks min but understand it isn’t a perfect method. I found ich and flukes can make it through observation readily.

It can come up that quickly - and unfortunately - can come on some time after an observational type QT. Agree with others - that a longer period is essential

Cupramine will also work, I just think coppersafe is a bit milder.
Yes, velvet can come on very fast - sometimes less than 36 hours from when people notice rapid breathing to the first fish death.
