What is my Skimmer Doing? How to Fix it?

Hey Reefers,
I am a total newbie, and have no idea what the skimmer is doing. Attached is a video. Anytime I decrease the water level in the skimmer the more bubbles & anytime I go to close the chamber from where the bubbles are coming for it overflows. I don't know does it just need to break in?

How exactly do I do that? It was working good for a day and then it started overflowing again even with the control valve opened all the way to lower the level of water in the skimmer.

If this is a new skimmer this will happen for the first couple of days while it "breaks in". If you have had it for a while, have you added anything new to your tank (equipment or supplements)? If you have, sometimes this will make your skimmer go nuts.

Is the skimmer in a place where the water level around it stays constant?

Yes. It is in my skimmer compartment. I think the problem is there is too much water in that area of the sump. I have an aquamaxx Co1 the air diffuser compartment is filled with water. I don't think its suppose to right?

It is a brand new skimmer the tank has been set up for about 3 days. What do I do when it keeps overflowing even with the valve fully open?

The skimmer is supposed to be at a certain depth. That said, if the level is staying constant it won't cause what you are seeing.

all skimmers have certain depths to operate at, some require a small stand to elevate it, but mine did not need it due to the skimmer chamber having an opening mid way up the panel of acrylic. It all depends on your sump mostly.
