Came home, threw a little food in for the fish, and 5 minutes later I see one of the polyps doing this. Didn’t really look at him close enough before feeding, so it could’ve been the feeding that caused it....don’t know.

It’s back to “normal” now, but does anyone else’s zoas do this?

The closed one? He grabbed some food and closed up. I was asking about the one that’s open beyond “flat”.

1) The reverse umbrella is actually the zoa feeding.

2) the closed up zoa is in a defensive mood rejecting any food source

I think zoas determine when theyre hungry (reverse umbrella) vs when theyre not (closed up)

Ive seen this many times with hungry zoas with their mouths slightly gapped open in the reverse umbrella shape

Agreed w the above comments. However, Ive seen my zoas that turn upside down, it means they are spreading and about to develop new polyps.
