Hair algae or bryopsis; you can pull some of it off, but probably will return. R2R has some good recomendations for eliminating or at least controlling it.
Tank looks new; may be part of ugly phase of cycling.

I usually do a water change every Monday. Today is Friday. Should I do one now and siphon up the brown stuff? My Toadstool has not opened up today. Do they get moody like that?
