What is on my leather coral?

So 2 days ago I purchased this leather coral and at first I thought it was shedding but now seems to be algae or something? Any help identifying what this is and how to deal with it would be a big help. Thanks

Can you get a better picture? Ideally hold the coral at the front of the tank by the camera if that's possible.

So I tried to scrub so off did best I could he feel almost solid I think it may be dead

Leather corals are really hard to kill. I suggest you leave it in and don't mess with it anymore. When mine shed it doesn't look like that but I have a different species. My best guess would be a stress shed, they often happen when getting moved to a new tank. When I first got mine it didn't open at all for a week and fully for 2 weeks. Just make sure its in low flow and low light and in a few days it will probably look better

Wait they like low light and flow I had him under high flow will change that and move him to bottom of tank where little flow and light is

Ok so I reduced flow on him and will see what happens tommorow

Should I move him to bottom I read they like flow and need moderate lighting my lights aren't that great so I have him half way up in tank and little less flow but still some to blow away algae that grew on it

Direct flow may stress it out, see if you can bounce flow off of the glass and hit him. If your lights aren't that strong medium height placement is probably fine. They aren't too picky but IME they like indirect flow that will lightly sway them

Yeah I have moved him back some so a lot of flow is direct from rock he was under direct earlier and way too much thanks for all the help I hope it pulls through

Sorry for your loss. Leathers are notoriously hard to kill I would check your parameters.....
