Hi new here!
These seemed to suddenly grow in last few days. Any ideas what they are?
Thanks for the input and I hope these pics help :))

Is the rock you pictured rather new to the tank?
its hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like the natural process of newly added rock?

Welcome to R2R forum:) are they green in color?
No they're whitish/almost clear in color.
My tanks has been running for 4 years now, cured live rock is switched out occasionally.
Upon my closer inspection they do in fact look like both foraminiferans and digit ate hydroids b/c some have a fan like appearance at the top and some are on stalks. Can these bloom if there is overfeeding? Are they harmful or good? Also do hermits eat them?
Thank for the advice again!

If it is bacteria, you mean I have a bloom or an issue with what bacteria? Sorry I am a 4 year old newb.

fans and stalks sounds like hydroids. do they snap shut when you or a fish or something gets close? if they are dusters or tubeworms/filter feeders they should not pose a problem with anything. not sure if the crabs will eat them, probably not. If you determine that it is indeed algae, try siphoning them off before they spread, or if you can remove the rock , put it in some of the tank water and scrub it for removal.
