Looks like little spikes, almost like thorns....

Tried to get a decent pic but photography isn’t my strong suit

Definitely not zoanthids.

If they are vertimid snails...solution?

I've had success with daily filter sock/floss replacement and reduced feeding for a few weeks.

They could be tube worms too. They are filter feeders. If they are Verms, then they send out stringy nets/webs... easy to spot.

I haven't seen any strings or nets. But that doesn't mean anything. From everything I've see, these look like vermetid snails. They are all over. Some say Coral snow treatment every other day will work on killing them by removing food from the column. Others say no, won't work.

One thing that will work is dipping the rocks in acid, which would mean I essentially have to tear my tank down again, and bath the rock, and start my cycle all over. Not something I'm overly eager to do, but I only have 1 coral, which I can remove from the rock with a chisel and that would be that, but I finally have parameter stability.

Look really closely at the end and you'll see the worm. There's a couple of different kinds that have tubes like that, but none of them are bad. Just leave it. Also, if the worm dies, the tube remains, so most likely a percentage of those tube are empty as well.

having hard time to identify which one you are talking about, i see couple of things. I dont think theres zoa or vermatid. Looks lots of tiny worm/feather dusters to me.

I think they are vermetid snails. I saw the feeding downstairs in the dark tank.

I also have this web thing (maybe a sponge). What I know is these things are all over. I have 2 choices. Deal with it and reducing feeding to 2x a week or remove all rock, out the fish in the 40 breeder and acid bath my rocks

I have vermetids in my tank and they have never bothered any of my coral or fish. There are some larger ones that can cause problems, but yours look just like mine. From everything I have read, manual removal is the only permanent way to get rid of them.

Yeah, that’s not happening. I have read that they are a sign of a healthy ecosystem, and I haven’t seen any worm like critters though. I really do not want to tear this thing down again. Figure they will all die at some point or get to the point where issues are being caused and have to tear it down then.

Going to try coral snow 2-3x a week and see what happens.
