What is pt1 tonga mean please?

Thats not even sensible. Tonga flat rock was more readily available(cheaper) than branch "back in the day" so obviously more would be available now on resale market.

It exists and comes up for sale occasionally here in the uk.

There is base rock floating around.
I dont think it's considered as desirable as the pretty branches though.

Probably just a designation they use to track inventory. Like Tonga plate lot #1= TP1, it’s easy to mix up lots when selling stuff like that. It could be a location indicator for their storage method, like storage shelf 1, includes a 1 for example. It’s unlikely that it is meaningful to a buyer, just a useful timesaver, error proofing method for the seller.

But why would the sellers list all their lots of rock as tp1?
If it was like a serial number I dont get why they would sell half dozen listings as tp1.
Some of the listings have one piece some have several.
These shelf rock theory of yours just dont stack up.
And if they do and e sellers reply it's just them keeping track of it..... well you won hear from me, I will be too busy scraping that egg off my face haha.

Itd be a coincidence if so many sellers happendx to call their storage locations tp1 AND list it in the advertisement title.

It is yeah. Rightly so really. It doesnt seem right carving up natural ecosystems when we can just make stuff.
That's why its banned from taking it some of these places maybe.
The natural stuff is beautiful though.

Nah I can see why they ban it to be fair.
If we destroy the ecosystems the corals come from we wont have corals.
That would be a sad day.

Nothing of any use to anyone. It is literally just for the sellers records.

Fwiw, if you import Tonga branch from Tonga these days (2021), they also send in plate-shaped pieces. It’s mixed in. It comes in completely dry. I’m not sure of the laws these days but it seems that it’s taken from the ocean and dried and sold abroad.

Where I live, yes. But only from time to time. True Tonga branch isn’t as easy to come by but when it does, it’s not cheap. I got some last summer that was mixed in with random pieces of rock which was a nice find.
