What is the best way to feed?

Ok so normally I just use a disposable cup scoop a lil tank water up put in some mysis shrimp let it thaw and then pour into my tank. But at the LFS’ I usually see someone with a container, a turkey baster looking thing, feeding some brownish looking stuff. I’ve also read thru some forums about people mixing foods meds etc.
what’s a good mix to feed a beginners reef tank? and what’s needed to make it store it etc..

Hi, and thanks. So recently I had velvet in my tank. I managed to save one fish. So right now it’s just a Pajama cardinal that will go back in the main tank in a week. But my plan Will be this...

I have a little solo cup which I let food thaw in then I spoon feed with plastic food, a little at a time until gone

Yeah you wouldn't really need much, vary what frozen food you give with some pellet food and your set. I usually get some tank water un a small cup let it thaw and slowly feed the tank little at a time, as for the turkey baster I use that to target feed frozen food to my corals. Now if you are having trouble with nutrient control then many people recommend thawing the food and rinsing it in RO water as the liquid they are frozen in tends to be high in nutrients.

I use a small plastic container for siphoning brine shrimp into for the target feeder and then I scoop up a small amount of tank water to grate Frozen human shrimp into for the pinnatus batfish. He doesn't eat it all, so the other fish also get some and the RFA and mandrins catch some of it as it floats by.

I have a small tomato ketchup bottle that i add my frozen food cubes (Krill, Mysis, Brine, Copepods & Fish Eggs) plus 75ml of tank water in. I then leave that in the fridge to thaw and add that mixture over 2 days. I just pour it out into a plastic cup as the squirter hole gets clogged up. So easy and quick.

I used to make enough in the fridge to last 3 days but since adding more fish, the food only last 2 days.

I just put my hand in the tank and let it thaw from there.

I take a shot glass and put a cube of mysis in with some tank water. Let it thaw in the fridge for an hour or two, then strain it, and put it back in the shot glass. Add tank water again and use a 5ml syringe to feed.

Some people have argued that straining is unnecessary, but I’ve noticed a dramatic reduction and stabilization in my phosphates since doing so.

I also turn off all pumps to allow my mandarin to get some food. The power heads come on after 10 minutes, followed by the return pump 2 minutes later and everything else one minute after that (ATO, UV, skimmer).
