What’s the difference between bio media (for a filter) and bio pellets (for a reactor) ?

Bio media is an inert man made porous substance for bacteria to grow on and in like live rock. Bio pellets for a reactor are made of a plastic that is a food for bacteria. The bacteria use the plastic in the pellets as a carbon source.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I get it. So one doesn’t replace the other. Ok cool thanks.

And bio pellets have to be in a reactor. Bio media comes in various forms that can be “passively” used (just sitting in sump, bag, block, etc).

You think it’s overkill for a FOWLR?
I have a reactor with Chem ready to go. I just think it seems like a good idea esp since a hob reactor has a small footprint
