What is the difference Innovative Marine NUVO EXT/INT 200

I was about to order the innovative Marine EXT 200 gallon. In the sponsor forum somebody asked but nobody answered.
Can't figure out why the ext uses horizontal bulkheads for the returns. Seems like might not be a good idea

I googled it and cannot for the life of me find out what this means. I love the stand and am leaning towards to ext to be able to access the plumbing. Do most prefer INT even though you lose aquarium area? Thank you for any advice.

(Int)ernal vs (Ext)ernal overflows

With the INT, the returns come up through the bottom of the tank inside the overflow box. The EXT has them enter the back glass.
