What is the main purpose of your UV setup?

I am curious what most people use their UV for in their tanks! Trying to decide between a high flow setup for algae control or low flow for parasite control.

I do use UV only when needed. For example I used it for two weeks when I had an outbreak of dino. It has been back in storage for the last 12 months.

I run mine when I brush algae off the rocks to wipe out anything that gets into the water column. I also run it when the water clouds a bit from bacterial and algae blooms. I like crystal clear water.

Hey Yman - you can have both if you run it with an adjustable DC pump - for instance keep it on higher flow for bacteria/water clarity most of the time then slow it down if you have an ich outbreak. Or, just get two : )

Just run one with a gate valve. That way you can adjust as needed.

I only run one when needed, not 24/7.

I run mine with a DC pump and adjust as needed. Mine is just a cheap Jebao 36w unit but it does the job.
