What is this, algae or something else?

Good point. I missed the water quality point.
A TDS meter is a good tool to have when someone else is making your water.

its not.(just got rid of mine. Thers no feathers or ferns)

yup. except consider better water. and get some snails in there.

Actually it doesnt look like it more like a wire type algae. Almost lie chaeto.

Op needs to get a better pic

What kind of pic would you like of it.

Just zoom in as clearly as possible would make it easier to see it. Its just there is lots of algaes and its hard to tell for sure. Send one with flash and one without

I tried to take some pics but my water is just to cloudy from me getting the blasset out of my tank earlier today since I had to move a bunch of rocks so for now those latest pics are the best I can do.

Looks like you need to test your water to see what your levels are. Especially ammonia and nitrite/nitrate. If you are reading nitrates that may be fine but if your nitrites are high then you are not cycled. Algae feeds off of the nitrates in your tank. May need to monitor your feedings and cut back a little.
One of the most important aspects of a marine reef tank is the use of zero tds water (ro/di). If you do not, then you will likely always have an algae issue. To have 5 snails die tells me that your water parameters may not be ideal.

Nitrates 10
Nitrites 0
Ammonia 0
Has been this way for 2 and a half months. I used live sand and live rock plus bio spira then dosed seachem stability for 2 weeks so it was pretty much Insta cycled.

I get it. It took me some time too. But in my unfortunate experience, the water gets much much better.
I encourage finding a lfs or chemical or gas supply for rodi.
So I went on Craigslist today just to check saw a guy selling a Nuvo rimless tank with a rodi system 4 stage with a tds meter. I asked if he would part out the rodi system and he said yes it's Only been used for 4 months he's selling it to me for 90 bucks and throwing in a 5 gal bucket of salt.

Okay, then it is not that. Looks like your tank is cycled. Could be the water then. May need to do more water changes and see if you can get the tds level of the water.
I believe chemi clean can help get rid of the algae of it gets out of control.

Saweeet.
Grab an inexpensive tds meter off Amazon like ten bucks.

Yup. And chemiclean can help to pull out some of the yuck stuff that may be in bad source water.

Not a bad deal. But remember, the ro/di system still needs to be set up and contained. You can figure it out but the system will save those trips to the lfs for water. I use one with two containers and I'm glad I did it. Water on demand.

Yeah fair enough I'll check the ones on Amazon. From the pics though it looks decently new and it's even coming with a spare DI filter. Either way I'm getting it at a steal.
Yea nice score. Took about 30 days and I saw improvement.

Lol not going to the lfs saved me a lot of money....... not buying coral.

Mine is in a plastic tub with a lid and portable. I hook it up on the kitchen floor.

My landlord built my house and has a ton of valves along the pipes in the basement not sure why he did it but it will make it easy to set up.
