Hey guys!
I’m new to the hobby and R2R. I’m about 4 months in. I have a 10gal tank (upgrading to a 20gal soon). I have somewhat passed the uglies stage of the diatom bloom thanks to the weekly water changes and inverts. Recently I started developing this unknown lime green alge on base rock, was wondering what this was ? Any ideas ? I do run my lights for a fairly long time from about 12pm to 11pm (still trying to tweak with the light setting) and I notice my inverts don’t seem to clean this stuff up.

This is a very classic appearance of algae post cycle in dry rock. Standard tank husbandry with the aid of an appropriate cleanup crew should have this converted to coralline algae in a few months.

An algae blenny and/or some snails might help, if you are interested in keeping those.

Okay that’s good to know that I’m on the right track. I have plenty of snails; a turbo, a margarita, and 5 torchus snails. I also a cleaner shrimp and a sally lightfoot crab which I high regret buying due its aggressiveness towards other inverts and fish. It charges a my clowns in close vicinity. Do you think okay as far as my clean up crew ?

Would I be overcrowding this tank add a blenny? Plus I probably wouldn’t be able to keep any, bottom dwelling fish due to this sally lightfoot crab. I’ve been trying to get him out of my tank.
