what magnification do you need in a microscope?

I did look at upgrading my uV but the size I would need is around $800 so it’s not an option for me. I currently under-run it but it seems functional for water clarity.

I’ve been able to identify them at 100x (10x objectives + 10x eyepiece), very clear at 400x (40x objectives + 10x eyepiece)

as far as UV you said you have one already..you could put this one in your display if you need a cheap one.

Thank you, I’ll check the microscope link. That (or one similar to it) is what I run on my display continuously. It’s a 55watt but the estimated tank volume is 250gal so if I need 1 watt per 3gal- I’d need 80-90w and the price goes up exponentially.
