What is this bubble on my clown?

Noticed this bubble on my male clown. Any know what it is? I've never had a clown develope this before.

Do you think it is a bubble, or could it be a bit of skin from some injury?
If it is a bubble, can you tell if it is fluid or air filled?

It looks air filled. We haven't been able to catch him and look better, too many nooks and crannies to run and hide in.

Is there any chance that the aquarium could have had a supersaturation event? Air becoming pulled in from the suction side of a pump is the most common way this can happen.

Not that I know of. I mean we've had power outages couple times. Not sure if that could have started anything. He was also the one that not long ago would suck the anemone tentacles so maybe he knows he has something and was trying to treat it. Idk. He's our first clown that's done different things.

Air bubbles in the skin is pretty much due to either supersaturation, or a bacterial infection where the bacteria is producing gas.

I’ve seen fluid filled sacs in fish, unknown cause in most cases, I did see a case recently where the fish had fluid build up and developed fluid filled sacs - but that isn’t the same as your case.

Do you think I'd be able to clip it off if I can catch him? Or just a fresh water dip or buy some melafix or another medicine for him?

I don't see a freshwater dip doing anything since it isn't a parasite. Melafix is just a tonic, so I wouldn't expect it to do anything. Catching it and clipping it off without anesthetic would be stressful.

In this case, I would just observe - watch for it growing, or new ones popping up.
