What is this cool (for now) critter/invert/polyp?..

So about two months ago, I saw two long, super thin tubes (about 2 in) on the back of one of my snails. Looking close, thought they were feather dusters and thought it was so cool…left alone. The other day, noticed nothing was popping out of one of the tubes and noticed the other it seemed more solid, not looking like feather duster. Next day… snail (an uprighting one, think asteria) was on its side… I did fix him so my melanranus would leave him alone. Regardless, has not moved since. Kind of sad about that, liked my mobile critter, but now wondering what to do about this and do i remove rotting snail. if this isn’t something bad, will probably let rot?. If bad though, atleast this one will easily be removed. One of my favorite things is finding life I did not purposely introduce, only when good of course…. So hoping someone can Id. Anyone?

I just googled, agree 100 percent. Glad my snail died!! I will continue to research, but am I in for an evasive mess?

Maybe not a mess. Requires pretty specific environment, high light, and things like to eat it.

I saw some really cool photos, all said they ultimately removed. Im not ready to attempt risk, so took out my dead snail. Scanned tank, don’t see anything else like it so maybe just a good snail down. Kind of sad with my decision, but in the past year had to go fallow, got vermitids and dinos so Im in our caution mode. So glad I asked, so thankful for responses! Think attached photo is confirmation
