Does it react to being touched? Would think if it's an octo it would retract. If it doesn't, dragon's breath is a good guess. Small seemingly seperate piece on the left makes more sense too if it's a macro.

I have never seen nemastoma. Amazing! Yes, protect that algae

@Charlesbrooks called it… it’s a nemastoma algae, aka red finger algae. Very beautiful specimen and hard to come by. Congrats on your find!

Could be a white sponge. Very aggressive and will cover coral . Having issues with yellow and a beige type. Had white which grew over the yellow. Had to scrub rock outside of tank.
