I am pretty new to Acros and SPS in general. I picked this guy up Friday. Can someone tell me what it is? Staghorn? I am sure it is pretty common and nothing special as it was fairly inexpensive ($20). As you can see there is not much polyp extension. Is that normal for whatever it is?

It looks healthy to me. I don't see any tissue recession or anything, and it does appear to be a staghorn-type acro. The way polyps appear varies somewhat by species, and can be influenced by a multitude of factors, so I wouldn't worry at this point. Nice looking coral overall.

Thanks for the reply. I am really enjoying this foray into SPS.

It will take some time before you see any polyps
as It will need time to acclimate to your tank. Nice piece.

Standard polyp extension for a stag and good looking growth you will see more encrusting and the color should improve as well as it acclimates to your tank! You will get different results from different areas in or tank according to light/flow. I typically start mine out low to let them get used to the light and always move them around till I see them the happiest! (don't move frequently move it around slowly)
