what is this form of algae?

Hi,

I am curious if anyone can identify this for me. It seems that it is harmless for now as it is on my equipment only, has not impacted any of my corals as of yet. Looks like it is bubble algae - and if that is the case, what is the cure? I do recall years ago when I got into this hobby that it was emerald crabs that eat this type of algae.

Yeah, that's bubble algae. CUC for it include emerald or pitho crabs, foxfaces, and sometimes tangs. Most people recommend the crabs or foxface though.

ok. thanks... funny because a buddy of mine has this same thing and has fox face but it doesn't eat it. It's another challenge in this hobby to have certain fish eat unwanted algae like this. Similar to how everyone recommends file fish or peppermint shrimp to eat aiptasia but that never worked for me. I think I will get emerald crab because if this stuff starts growing on rocks/corals - assume emerald crab will eat. it is fine if on equipment.
