Mesenterial Filaments, internal structures of corals used as a defensive mechanism, and or digestive mechanism. May be present when one coral is trying to kill a neighboring corals, feeding response and a response to stress.

That brittle star might be bothering it...

I had the same on a digi and intrestingly it had a growth spurt about a week later and it was in that same spot where the "goop"was that the new growth started. Maybe a coincidence.

That is pretty common occurrence actually. I see the same thing with my corals.

Aah yeah. The brittle star is usually drapes his arms elsewhere, but I see in the pic that wasn't the case when I was taking my pic. :-) Good catch!

It will also do this when healing , or "cleaning" an area to base onto

Aah cool to know. He's a tiny frag I discovered down in a larger zoa frag I bought - I plucked him off and glued him to that PVC in the pic, and he's been growing for a bit now. Would be cool if he's planning on more growth. :-)
