I have a 120 gallon reef tank that is about 9 months old. About two weeks ago I had crystal clear water running a HOB seachem Tidal 75, UV Sterilizer and HOB skimmer.
Now I have all this algae sticking to rocks, sand bed, glass, filter intake, power head. Pretty much everything. Any idea what it is and what I can do to get rid of it?
Just for note I am dealing with ich so have been dosing ich attack to combat the symptoms of my fish, per the instructions I have turned off the protein skimmer and removed the carbon from the filter. I have also added a new live rock to the aquarium for an additional hiding spots for my fish.
Also I had a Nitrite spike and added some nitrifying bacteria to combat. I also do about a 10-15% water change weekly.
My parameters are:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5-10
Phosphate: .18ppm
Alkalinity: 167 ppm
PH: 7.9
I know it’s a lot of info but I would like to be thorough to combat this algae.
