What's growing on the coral itself might be just more coral right?

I would say that the critter growing on the plug is a sponge, the one on the stem of the coral looks more like a red foram. Don't know a lot about forams, but believe them no harm, sponges are filter-feeders, good to have around. They can also help with keeping your rocks in place by growing between them and attaching to both / all of the rocks in contact, and support a slightly different group of beneficial bacteria.

Thanks for the help! I am relieved that they could be harmless
