Recently upgraded to a IM 40g from my 25g. Kept the sand from my buddy live and setup with my rocks. Noticed today theres all these reddish spots on the glass, rock and sand. Seems like a algae as it comes off super easy with a scraper and then floats away into the water column. 2 hours later they are right back again. Does anyone know what this is? Some type of algae or pest? Didnt have them in my old tank so I'm assuming came in the sand. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately, they look like red planaria flatworms

Wouldn't they move though? When I stand there and look at them they don't seem to move like planaria. I almost think its slime algae...but not 100% sure.

Yes, they do move. Maybe someone else will chime in and give you a better answer

Been watching them closely...they don't move at all like worms or planaria. Almost looks spongy. They seem to be mostly at the top of the sandbed where the sand meets the glass, and at the base of some rocks..
