Ok so about a year ago I bought a pink carnation coral that was attached to this rock. Well when my carnation coral died I left the rock in my tank. Well I found out that it isn't a rock and is actually an invert of some type. I've asked many people what they thought it was and can't find anyone who knows. It has a mouth and teeth but I think it only filter feeds. So please give me your input on what you think it is.

Stone fish is the only thing I know looks that much like a rock.

Well see I know it's not a stone fish. Also it doesn't move it just opens and closes it's mouth that's all it does

The pic is too dark I cannot even see it. But my guess without seeing is probably some sort of oyster. I have had oysters before it it looked very much like a rock

Yes to Oyster, very very cool. Well at least some kind of bi-valve.

Yes that's pretty awesome, but it's also a little creepy looking...lol

Ya me either and the sad thing is the lfs I bought it from doesn't even know what it is nor do the other lfs here

Sad thing is I'm going to school for marine biology and out of all the professors and even a good friend of mine owns a lfs and she's a marine biologist and doesn't know. But probably need to look far and wide for someone who only studies invertebrates

Basic NPS bi-valve husbandry will apply. It's a filter feeder, and is obviously doing well thus far. Small particulate foods like Phytoplankton, Reefroids, ReefChili, Goniopower would all work.

My NPS always did the best when I stirred up the sand around them to stir up detritus, I usually did that every couple days.

Ya where I have it in my tank is in the middle where a power head blows to and stirs the sand up 24/7
