Please help me what is this
On the fin the 3 white specks is it normal or ick Becuse the us fish has been in cupramine for 70 days
He’s eating well twice a day all other fish who were with him in the chew mine are fine and okay . I need to know what it is it’s been on the fish two days

He’s been in cupramine 70 days at 0.5.
He was in for longer than expected Because on day 25 I noticed it dropped in copper to 0.3 so I decided to play it safe and restart the 30 day timer. Also he handled the copper like a champ and eats very well and he’s still eating great to me it does look like whatever he had when I got him. I Qt and treat all my fish regardless, wih cupramine and then 2 rounds of prazipro.
He has doubled in size since I got him.
ive attached a picture of him when I got him a few days before he went into treatment and qt.

My initial reaction is that nothing unusual is present, especially since you followed the QT protocol carefully.

Anytime I see something new, I try to monitor carefully. If over the next few days more spots develop, or spots disappear from one location and reappear in a different location, you may need to followup with something more than observation. I believe any treatment would be premature at the moment.

I think I can see three tiny white spots on its right side fin. Since it has been in Cupramine that long, I doubt that is ich. They may just be damaged fin rays. If the spots stay in the same location for 2 or 3 days, it isn't ich.

I agree, no treatment is needed right now.

Thank you for the advice let me keep observing for a few more days and if as you said they stay in the same place and disappear i won’t worry. If more appear then I will know its ick

Thanks. Yes I hope it’s not ick I mean he was in qt With my naso tang who is his friend ……sleeping wirh him and following him around etc but sometimes if the orbicular puffer would get too close he would kick him with his blade on his tail. So I don’t know could be damage.
I went very long with the treatment period because he was handling it great eating excellent

I increased copper over two weeks. I divided the initial two doses to reach the therapeutic level into 6 doses 2 days apart each .
And when I saw the copper had dropped on day 22 or so I restarted the timer.
one of the main reasons I’m very strict this time round is Becuse I choose to keep the orb puffer which is an ick magnet. When I had my old tank with my choice of fish I went through 3 puffers that’s all eventually died Because of ick.

I believe fin ray issue and even early stage viral from water/water quality . 70 days is a long treatment and likely your water quality has during this treatment cycle deteriorated
Have you been monitoring ammonia levels during treatment and how?
What level cupramine have you maintained and how tested?

Thanks for the information !!! Noted If it helps I was doing 100 % water change every 3-4 days while using an ammonia alert . I would mix the salt and pre dose copper in a big barrel good for 3 waterchanges and using water from there .

Sorry I forgot to answer a few of your questions
I used searchem cupramine
And used the seachem copper test
And I did 100% water changes every 3 or 4 days depending on the feeding and aminoa Alert reading

Badge is not the most reliable but when doing water changes, were you restoring copper to therapeutic level as you noted that you had one drop during the treatment and that would in essence break the cycle But not significantly.

Hi thanks for reply. Yeah so for waterchanges I bought a extra large barrel which would hold a water supply to do 3 waterchanges . The water is premixed and dosed at 0.5 cupper
I do waterchanges on the qt and that way I only mix one time for every 3 waterchanges. I did this to ensure I had the best dose all the time which was always 0.5. It dropped one time on day 22 or so to 0.3 and I restarted the timer. There is nothing but a few pvc tubes an after the first time the copper level dropped I observed daily and only a few times doses copper when I noticed it ever so slightly creeping down. I noticed on day 3 it would usually so that so I figured anyways if I was doing waterchanges 3 days apart I should be fine I was testing throught treatment. I was testing every two days roughly .

I will keep you updated as this might help someone and if I discover anything I will post !!! Let’s see. Igmedio is sleeping now ! He seems very good he ate 20 pieces of his food as usual but he’s getting lazy I’m encouraging him to move more buy hiding his food around the tank so he has to move to find it but it’s hard I think he is fat .

Update on igmedio the 3 spots are now just 2 spots on the same fin and he’s eating well I’m just eating and watching. He seems to like to sleep next to this pink Christmas
