What is this long worm?

I came across this big guy in my qt frag tank. I’ve never seen him before. I have added brissle worms before but they are pink.

I’m thinking this one came through on a frag.

Well I wish I hadn’t googled that.

That’s one ugly worm.

I don’t think that’s it. This one appeared to have two antannae (I think). It kind of had like a raised but very long mouth.

I also think it might have had legs like a centipede. He was pretty large, maybe 3-4” from what I could see. He had snuck through from under the frag rack hole in this pic, I don’t know how much more of him exists under the rack.

You can see the leg formation if you squint real tight.

I’m not sure how I’m going to accomplish this feat, this guy is fast and I don’t know when I’ll see him next.

You’re having me do the worst worm googling ever....


I’d say the structure is similar but I think this one had more of a rounded body. If a bobbit worm was this length it would be wider. Not sure :/

None of the frags in this tank seem distressed/have tissue receding. A few were hydrogen peroxide dipped and are ticked but no signs of anything else.

Hopefully my trachy can make a good meal out of him.

The closest worm I could find, if it’s not a bristle worm, is fulgida. This one is clearly white however while a fulgida appears darker. Maybe that’s just how a bristle worm looks in the blues of my tank?

Bristle definitely matches closest. It’s almost like a spaghetti and bristle had a baby.

I don’t want to remove it if it’s a bristle! I love them. I doubt it’s one of the babies I added a month ago though.

Scratch everything, it looks like a spinoid the most but do those have the legs that you see in the picture?

He would like flutter to swim. He’s going bonkers in this cup right now.

I accidentally cut him in half with my tongs so there are two in here.

Some better pictures, these guys can move crazy fast and are shaking violently.

Id would be helpful, if they are bristles then I want them back in there.

Possibly, but I don't know if they get that big. Also, all the spionid worms I know about live in tubes. They are often mistaken for vermetid snails. Is that a pic of one outside its tube or is there some species that don't make tubes?
