Anyone knows what the name of this micro is? It's supposed to be UFO, seems like there's alot of strains of UFO morphs out there.

Could be, Micro's and acans sometimes lose a little color when fragged. give it a little time to see if that white turns green.
Some will argue if you cant prove lineage then its not the real deal. I wont get into that mess, But there is a little truth to it.

Looks like the UFO to me. Red with green ring outside and red center with green mouth.

thanks

thanks... maybe it will color up after awhile.
Will the color be true-er under low light 10K, i.e. PC lights vs. Halide?
Also how big does the polyps get? I red somewhere that micros cannot be larger than 8mm in diameter.

That is the technical specification, but I have seen larger ones. I have micros that get close to quarter size when heavily fed. Some only get dime size and some are just down right tiny

Color will be truer closer to 15K or 20K, 10k will mute the greens and blues. I prefer them under 20K if possible PC or MH

Looks it to me also...here is a couple pictures of the "UFO" from Fraggle Reef I took...1 under actinics (WOW), and one under daylight!

that is the taxonomic distinction, 8mm as the largest diameter of the corallites

the genera micromussa was split from acanthastrea simply because of the difference in pollyp size, other than that they really don't differ.
