what is this on firefish

I have had this guy for about 4 months now. Never had a problem with him eating or acting differently. about a week ago I saw a lighter white spot. it has now gotten allot more white and swollen. i have been medicating their food with focus metro and kanaplex, but hasn't seemed to help. what do you guys think this is and how do I treat it. I have a QT set up so I can remove him if necessary. Thanks for the help in advanced

It's not cotton like. iam not sure what cauliflower like looks like. it's hard to say what I could compare it to.. but if anything more dead skin like

You may be right on to something here. Often these fish, I have a few myself, dart around and bang into rocks. Thinking yours may be a scrape of skin from a run in with something with an edge in your tank. Watch the area for a white filmy or redish spot indicating a bacterial infection is starting.

do you think it's worth trying to catch him and putting him into QT?
