what is this on glass

can anyone tell me whats going on here, 125g with t-5 lighting, tank has been up and running for a good 6 mths, in the past couple weeks this brownish stuff is all over the glass, i use a scrapper and knock it off and its back within two days, is it harmful or just a pain in the ***, thanks for any advise

What kind of clean up crew do you have. Looks like normal algae growth or diatoms to me. Turbos or astrea's should take care of that.
 
Just scrub it off. Everybody does it, it's always back in two days. It's just a thing you need to deal with, I know it sucks, a magnetic algae scrubber will make things easier.
 
Definitely just normal algae! Clean up crew really helps keep things in check. I have a sand sifting goby (diamond goby) to keep the sand clean and a bunch of different snails and hermit crabs to help with algae. Just tell your LFS you need a clean up crew and how big your tank is and they can recommend some.
