What is this on my back glass???

I have been trying to grow coralline algae on my back glass since I like the look it gives a fish tank so I have been trying not to clean the back glass but this is what it keeps looking like everytime I go without cleaning it. There is some coralline algae in the back but not much. More of a greenish algae. What could be causing it?

It took a cpl yrs for me to finely get it to grow on the back & sides of my tank & now I'm trying to keep it off the frt. It just started to show up one day & then went crazy.

Well I try to keep the front and sides clean, but for some reason the back glass is the only part that keeps getting that green algae. Debating on whether to leave it or scrape it off.

If it's not GHA I'd scrape it or get some CUC to help with keeping it in check until you get what your looking for. If you know someone close by you that has coralline algae see if they will scrape some off for you.

Would a lawnmower blenny help and would it be compatible with my fish: yellow tang, maroon clownfish, melanurus wrasse and snowflake eel?

That might work but try to get a better pic of the algae so others can help.

I have the exact same thing on my back wall, I just let it be, the fish pick it at it looking for copepods and the hermit crabs eat the spirobid worms they can reach. Eventually coralline will take it over.

Do you have a side shot, kinda hard to identify structure but looks very similar to what I have going on. Spirobid worms, brown/green algea both filaments and plating.

Like I said I don't scrape my back wall no matter what grows on it, it offers a good area for things to just naturally grow out and the fish like picking at the copepods that forage for food there. The hermits like the spirobid worms and anything else they can reach.

Its really up to you, some people can't stand it, others like me just leave it be.
