What is this on my clownfish?

i picked up this big ol girl from someone getting out of the hobby.

She has been in qt and complete 4 weeks of cp and I just dosed the second dose of prazi tonight.


I have had the light dim for most of the time. Getting close to release time so I started observing closely and I saw this. Is the scale damage? Old wound? Flukes?

Have not done a fw dip. Healthy eating and has never scratched or shaken her head.

That is very neat and looks healthy. Could it be abnormal scales in the bar section? Never noticed it before? With the behavior you mentioned (no irregular behavior unique to disease) I would assume it is abnormal but if you want to watch her for another week in QT to make sure (not necessarily more medication). If you did this I would see if these "scales" move.

You may be right. Those might be flukes, in particular Dactylogyrus trematodes. If it was my fish, I'd do a freshwater dip.

Fw dip complete. Nothing came off. It almost looks like it’s the actual scales. Just a different color.

Wondering if the prior owner had some corals in the tank that had stung the clown and these are the marks slowly healing.

He had mostly mushrooms and the most bristle worms I had even seen these guys were HUGE! I ended up nukeing all the rock and giving everything else a vinegar bath.

Good to see it is not likely flukes and possible abnormal scales. I would still watch him in QT and pay attention to these scales to see if anymore arise, move or stay where they are. If everything checks out he should be good to go.
