What is this on my colony?

The big question of the day will be
what is the parameters:) what are you dosing, and what kind of lights;)

Parameters:
pH - 8.4
Amonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 5ppm
Calcium - 420
KH - 11dKH

Not dosing anything for this, I want the majano out.

T5 Lights

Go get a needle and syringe from somewhere like Walgreens or CVS and inject the majano in the mouth or stem with a small amount (0.5 ml) distilled white vinegar. It might take 2 injections to kill it, but it will die.
In the tank, or out?

If you can do it out, that would be best

This has definitely been the most odd thing this hobby has driven me to do :D
After getting your advice and watching video after video hoping to gain better insight, I headed out to the local 24-hour drug store to pick up syringes. Needless to say, the pharmacist gave me an odd look for purchasing them at 11:30ish last night.
I then took the frag out and stabbed the two critters. They basically disappeared, and I thought it was over....
This morning, however, the bigger of the two (all brown and angry looking) was still alive. It had moved itself on top of the zoas. I took it out again and dosed it with another .5ml of vinegar and this time was able to yank it out with tweezers.

Yes, looking back, the feeling of importance turned into a feeling of dumb, guess spelling was not my forte. Going back to my corner now. :(
Whoops! honestly I didn't even notice the spelling. For the tags, you need to use a # instead of a @.

Just drink more coffee, it works for me! And no going to the corner, we like you here! :D

Thanks for the support. I guess reefsquared if feeling mighty important here also. I aim to please.

I wonder if we can make a reefsquared app for checking in at LFS's... hmmm... ;)

So, do I just keep an eye out for that other majano in case it returns as well?
How quickly do these things multiply?

@reefsquared
here you go
I feel so important. hehe

edit to reflect that I must have been drinking when I was feeling important. here is how it should go:

Yup, that edit worked! Just got the alert! :D

There will likely be more if they are in the rock, unfortunately they are tough. If you keep killing them as they pop up, you will be ok.

I've never tried this on majanos, but for aptasia, I microwave a coffee cup of tank water and then use a turkey baster to scald the little buggers. Might have to do it two or three times.

I'm glad this has worked for you. Like you I got an odd look from the pharmacist when I asked for a needle and syringe and when I explained what I was doing, I'm pretty sure I got an even more odd look.

Here are the zoas today. All the ones that were annoyed and closed in the back have all opened up, but the part in front to the right, (where I found that majano climbed on top of day 2), has been closed ever since. Maybe just pouting/recuperating, or did it kill them?

Boy I wish there was, but I have not found that I have much if any control over this, once it has started. Hopefully, it will only be that small patch and the rest will stay healthy. I am by no means an expert and would defer to other more knowledgeable on such things though. The only thing I have done in the past is remove these "melting polyps" so they do not foul the tank. I personally act maybe quicker than others because I would rather throw them out than have them continue a bad chemical issue within my reef. I have been known the pull the rock and scrape off the affected portion, maybe sooner than I should have, just to avoid the cycle of death in my tank. If you have a separate tank that you can remove them to to watch, that might also be an option.
I tend to be a bit on the pro-active side of things when it comes to my tank though. Others might suggest the wait and watch approach. good luck.

It's hard to say with zoas - I have a group that got stuck under my RBTA for a couple of days when it decided to move. Once I realized it and moved them, they were closed up and stayed that way for days. Eventually they have started opening again - zoas are very very tough and can often come back.
