What is this on my fish?

Hello, I recently purchased this fish, and this showed up within the last week. Can anyone tell me what it is. I was hoping it was just an injury from aggression.

Slightly raised. Not sure about the cotton. It almost looks "spongy"

Should I take the fish back? I will read the article, but it sounds like a virus.

Post would or nick. Keep water clean and add melafix which will aid in quick healing.

Consider yourself lucky when it comes to possible diseases that you could be dealing with. Lympho can rectify itself with proper nutrition and pristine water conditions. I'd soak the fish food in vitamins such as zoecon and selcon as well.

Thank you for your response. I do like the fish so I will do as you said. Do I soak the food until it goes away or whenever it shows signs?

At least until symptoms subside but you can continue to enrich their foods moving forward. It only helps
