What is this paly/zoa?

I bought this frag online advertised as a zoanthid, but it doesn’t look anything like the zoas that I find at my LFS or any that I have kept before.

What I’m used to calling “zoanthid”

And yes, I know I have hair algae

It looks like a Zoa, I don’t see any sand in the tissue. There is nothing wrong with a little algae!

Whats the difference between a paly and a zoa???

Ok. I’ve just never seen one with such a long stalk. Regardless its pretty cool looking. I just like to know exactly what I have in my tank.

Nah, its under a 250w metal halide and T5s. There’s not a place in my tank less than 120 PAR. Its getting about 180 where it is. Its polyp is also about the size of a quarter which I’ve never seen anything close to in my other zoas.

I have seen zoas like that before. Not many, but I have seen some.
