I just noticed this yesterday on the base of this frogspawn. Judging by it's size, I'm guessing it's been there for a while and I simply hadn't noticed it due to the color and the fact that the polyps hide most of the base during the day. I also noticed it has one small "bubble" (polyp?) on it. I did poke it with something just to see what it's texture was, and it feels like messing around with it would make it fall apart and disappear into the water column. It almost felt fluffy, for lack of a better word. I have no idea if it's a sponge or some bacteria or something else entirely. I did add a few frags to the tank a few days ago, but they'd been in my QT for months and I haven't noticed anything in that tank or on the new frags, so I don't think it's from them.

Here you can see the little 'bubble' on the right side.

It looks like a pink sponge looking thing !!! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
When you do your next water change suck it out while scraping it off

Its cryptic sponge and will not stop growing. Best way to remove is:
a- Remove frag and expose to air
b- Remove and place in container of tank water and scrape off
c- With syringe, inject some vinegar into it and it will shrink and dissipate

In that order or pick one? That's one of my first frags and it's pretty solidly attached to the rock (I think/hope/assume, I've never actually tried moving it) and the rock itself has other rocks on top of it.
Wait, nevermind, you wanted the vinegar thing to be done outside the tank, that makes more sense.

Honestly, based on my initial probing of it, if I make any attempt to remove it, the stuff is all just going to fall off. It put up literally no resistance when I touched it. It had a similar consistency to what I imagine a piece of bread would feel like if it had been submerged in water for a while.
