My tank has had (or currently has [emoji23]) about every kind of algae ever, but this is a new thing that I just noticed tonight. I would like to know if anyone can tell me what kind of algae/plant it is and if it’s a good one or a bad one (like bryopsis....).

The pics are terrible but they were the best I could get... it’s this clearish pinkish stuff. It seems to have a skinny part with a feathery looking tip.

Feather like tip sure looks like bryopsis; not sure about color. Another characteristic I look for in identifying bryopsis is whether it is well anchored to rockwork. Good luck eradicating it - tough stuff as you know

Ughhhhh noooo

I was hoping it wasn’t because of the color [emoji24]

Ha ha, believe me there is life after bryopsis. Pull it off if you can, keep detritus from forming, maintain good water parameters..........you know the drill.

Good luck; took me awhile to get things under control when I experienced it

Thanks @Mikedawg. Did you happen to make a thread for your tank or bryopsis conquest I could follow?

Unfortunately not, but you would have only seen me getting my t-shirt wet while I angrily pulled this "devil weed" off the rocks, added chemicals, offered sacrifices to the fish gods, etc. Some good threads on this board about using fluconazole (https://www.payless-petproducts.com/fluconazole200.html0 which I did and Meleev's Reef has another approach: http://www.melevsreef.com/critter/bryopsis. What I experienced and, what we all pretty much agree on, is that all tanks are different and, unfortunately, there isn't necessarily a "one size fits all" remedy; you may have to experiment with different methods to find the one that works well for you, particularly since you seem to have other significant algae problems.

When you search for bryopsis on this board you will soon realize you're not alone, ha ha.

Thanks! I will check them out! Honestly I don’t even mind almost all of the algae but I do not like green hair algae or this stuff just because it can get out of control. Algae in moderation is fine with me [emoji23]

What does it taste like ?
Peppery or sweet? ;Bookworm

Lol. Do not taste it.

Bryo will look almost exactly
Like a feather
There a ton of different kind but....

The wiry bits I'd try to scrub off but if that a bryo , it's tough.
He type I had , I could Clean right down to the rock and would look fine but came right back.

The fluconazole is super easy.
No side effects but a litter higher nitints from the die off and skipped water changes.

Thank you, Salty! I will look into the fluconazole.

Dang I’m glad I have a small tank. I don’t know how you guys with non-nano sized tanks handle this stuff!

Me yesterday morning: yay, my tank is pretty good, everyone’s happy, it’s fun! Maybe I’m starting to know what I’m doing!

Me yesterday evening: omgggg is that bryopsis I have no clue what I’m doing I want to curl up in a ball

Haha. Well, I guess you didn't see this

We're all learning.

I wish we lived closer. I'd help ya scrub. We have similar tanks, please post your steps so I can learn from your progress. I will eventually get this too.

Ah thanks @Katrina71. I’m not sure if I want to scrub and do the fluconazole or just the fluconazole without scrubbing first. Not sure how lazy I’m feeling. Lol

I’m so sad because I’ve gone over a year without bryopsis! I’m not sure how it turned up. I added some new corals recently; maybe it came in on those?
