This was pulled from the water in the Fl Keys about 2 years ago. I am guessing its not actually a rock but hoped someone here could tell me what it is. Not the first time I have seen them, just never thought much about it.

Looks like coral skeleton to me. Not sure which kind though.

I was thinking the same thing now, but when I got it I was thinking it was just a rock of some type. Now, after learning what a coral skeleton is over the last few years, it got me wondering.

Thanks guys, now the important question.. can it be put in my tank? It sat in bleach for a few weeks(it was already that color white before bleach) and then dry in a box since then(few years). Or will it break down in the water over time adding calcium, phos or something else to my water?

It is aragonite. It is just like most other rock that comes from the ocean. I would not hesitate to use it... heck, people use rock that was mined from inland quarries that were reefs a million years ago... so this has to be better than that.

Yeah looks like aragonite based (could be a coral skeleton like Siderastrea) but definitely not a Pipe organ which is not found even remotely near the Keys
