What is this, should i be scared

Hi Guys,

I got these mushroom corals the other week and now this entrusting thing is growing.

What is it and should I be worried?

It's another coral, montipora maybe? Given good light/flow/water, it will probably color up into something.

I was thinking orange monti cap.

Only issue I see is that the mushrooms like a PAR around 50 to 150. Montipora 200 to 300. If their stuck to each other it may be an issue.

I have that. Do not know what it’s called but will get some polyps coming out of it. Does not sting mushrooms. The one I have is green polyps. I’ll post photo in a bit.

Put a small rock next to it and it will cover the rock too.

It looks like it's already reaching off the rock. Wait a few weeks and you will have enough to pop off a frag.

Yeah it spreads pretty fast. No high light needed.

100/150 for plating montis.
They spread out and collect the light needed. It's the sticks that need the higher light.
Not to say they can be acclimated to higher.

Mine thrived in 400+ par

This was a little frag from the orange above. It's thriving in about 250 now. While they may do fine in lower light they definatly like higher par IME

They're very adaptable. Nutrients in the first tank were a bit high N 15-20 P 2.5-4 and in the second shot they are barely detectable often hitting 0. I've added monti caps to the list of good coral to recommend to beginners.
