What the heck is on this guy I've had him for a while now. Should I be worried? It's on his head

has it gotten bigger at all or changed in any way over the week? Any nems in the tank or euphillia? Other symptoms to go along with it?

Just noticed it today, no nems or anything.

Breathing is not super heavy, fairly rapid but not awful

It could be the beginning of an infection... though the cause is still in debate. Did you QT him and the rest of your fish?

I only have one other clown in the tank. And they were both disease free upon entering my tank in June 2016

How did you verify this? With QT? What was your process for QT? I'm sorry I'm trying to identify what could be causing this with very little info. The more info provided, the better help I can give.

I'm sorry, yes qt. did not buy from a store I got them from a friend. I noticed nothing until today, he ate while he had this. I added a hermit crab and a small snail last night.

Ok. So for now I would just feed healthy foods like frozen mysis, live blackworms, ect. Add vitamins like Selcon or vitachem to the foods and keep the water pristine clean. Keep a close eye on him and his symptoms. Let us know if it gets worse/bigger, any heavy breathing, white spots, dustiness, torn or tattered fins appear. If he stops eating, that will be important to know too. We are hoping he can kick it on his own with just a little assist to his immune system with healthy foods and vitamins.

So at this point it doesn't look like brook, velvet or ich right?

Not really. Brook is something else. It can present in many different ways. I dont think it looks like brook, but it could be the very early stages. Brook should have shown up between now and June, but it could have ridden in on something else like the snails. But they would have to have been exposed to it before hand (have it in the water or on them when introduced). It's tricky to diagnose sometimes.

He's acting fairly normal and nothing else is on my other clown.

OK. So just do your best for him immune system wise, and keep a close eye on him. Brook will cause heavy breathing and he will look pretty bad pretty fast. If that happens, do a Freshwater Dip to buy some time to get the other meds that will help.

UPDATE: so the clown cleared up in 24 hours so I think it was fighting or hitting something. Otherwise they are both doing good. I don't know if it could be anything else
