Pics fuzzy but appears to be Bryopsis algae which is one of the more challenging of algae due to need of its complete removal. Removal is best accomplished by taking the rock out of tank and placing in a container of tank water. Then you will want to pull as much as you can by hand and discard. With a dental pick or small crochet needle, pull the roots off the rock. YOU MUST GET EVERY ROOT OR IT WILL SIMPLY RETURN !!Tank is in the ugly stage and I have the usual suspects (diatoms, diatoms, and more diatoms) , but what are these?![]()

Nooo not bryopsisPics fuzzy but appears to be Bryopsis algae which is one of the more challenging of algae due to need of its complete removal. After you are done return rock to tank and reduce white light intensity and even hours of white light and add the following cleaners which will help with control. These guys will consume bryopsis but not as fast as bryopsis can grow - They will never keep up.
Pin cushion urchin, Chiton snails, pitho crabs, and larger astrea snails
This procedure is not as bad or time consuming as it seems. Assure phosphate levels do not become elevated which helps feed this algae

I agree that some of it looks like bryopsis but I can't tell for sure what's on the coral. Can you try to get better pictures?Nooo not bryopsis
I can easily remove the patch in the sandbed, but I can't remove the rock it's on, because It Is connected to my arch, any other removal methods? What about the algae on the corals, it doesn't look the same as the bryopsis, any ideas what that is?
Yes I will try to tomorrow, but my lights are dimmed and the water is still cloudy right now because I took my filter socks out to clean themI agree that some of it looks like bryopsis but I can't tell for sure what's on the coral. Can you try to get better pictures?

I tried that earlier this week, but it was solid on there. It looked almost exactly like the algae on my goni (which was a freebie from sbb corals), but after I messed with it the algae looks like it's dying. Is that goni from SBB corals? My goni freebie came with lots of algae too...
Regarding the last picture, is that piece of algae stuck on the coral or can you blow it off? Algae won't grow on coral tissue so I can imagine it will easily come off.
