So i got home from dinner with my gf and noticed my watchamn goby is missing usually always out and about not much places to hide was looking everywhere picked up all 3 big live rocks and nothing than i noticed some shrimp like bug or something jumping around no idea what it is st all and no idea where this goby went

10g long reef tank
Temp 75/76
What quality not too sure atm it’s 4am
But my coral seem fine so i don’t think it’s effectiving them if it’s water

Stock clown fish / cleaner shrimp / emerald crab / 4 hermits / mixed snails any one know?

Also my goby would only eat the crab pellets i would which was weird some some frozen shrimp is feed he just ate last night and he’s gone now

don't think that's the culprit.hard to see from the pic but that looks like a pod. an emerald and 4 hermits can make a quick meal out of a dead fish.it's amazing how fast they can consume a body.i'm not saying that's it but if you cant find that goby in the tank or on the floor he's probably crab food.test those levels over the next few day to make sure your ammonia doesn't spike.your not dealing with a huge volume of water so it is easy to pollute it.

That's an amphipod for sure. They reproduce rapidly in my tank. They do a good job cleaning up left over food and get to areas other cleaners can't.

Are they safe to have or should i hunt him down don’t want any weird crap in my tank lol

1/4-3/8 of an inch long is the largest I've seen. I have nothing in my tank that eats them right now. That's why I'm able to get a pic of them easily. They're literally everywhere I look. I've seem them fight eachother actually. That was kinda cool. It was like a mini version of alien vs predator, lol.

I think your diamond goby should keep them in check as he feeds from the sand bed. You won't be able to get rid of them all. Most of the time a predator just makes these guys hide until lights out. At least they don't harm anything and are beneficial.

Some wrasses would actively hunt stuff like this. Need to make sure you have the right sized tank and screen or mesh cover if you do get a wrasse. And some wrasse prey on ornamental shrimp so that's another thing to consider.

Turn a flashlight on the sand and rocks at night and then think about what it would take to get rid of them. I’m actually a little bummed, I had a decent amount of amphipods die in my tank, hoping they make a comeback.

That is an amphipod. They are great for your tank. They feed your fish that can catch them and they clean up detrirus.
