They look nasty yeah, pineapple sponges are also popping up in the sump EVERYWHERE. Those tube worms you see in all those pictures make the black wall look white.

Yup. Cryptic animals for the most part. Some say it’s the silicates and other minerals fueling some of the growth along with the increased bacteria in the water coloum of a newer tank.
