I bought this coral from my lfs about 4 months ago and always noticed that it looked like something was under/inside of it.
Recently it has moved out slightly. What ever it is seems "fleshy" so not part of the coral and when ever I do a water change it goes back into the hole for about a day. I have not observed it come out of the coral.

I always dip my coral in bayers insecticides, so unsure how the thing survived.

Also what kind of coral is this

Good photos and an even better question!

Does it seem fixed or does it move?

Coral looks like a type of favia to me, can't tell if it's a mutli color or if that's skeleton showing.
The mystery thing under it... you'll have to get clearer pics.

I have not seen it leave the coral, it just stays under their but the part which is viewable in the image moved and retracts back into the hole, it looks fleshy whatever it is.

You may want to quarantine that piece until you determine if its friend of foe.

So today the thing moved to a spot where I can a better look, it's something inside of a "clam" shell, it was open then quickly closed when I showed light on it.

If the "clam" shell opened and closed with the fleshy tube inside, then the fleshy thing is a bivalve (clams, mussels, oysters, etc.) siphon, and the "clam" is the bivalve.
