What is this thing????

Came in on live rock. It has two openings, kinda fleshy leathery feel to it. When I poke it the opening or "mouth" closed up. It's pretty solidly attached to the LR. At first I thought it was a tube work but no evidence of something living inside.

Is it attached to the mushroom? Do you have any other photos?

Oh, wow! I thought there were 2 orange mushrooms on the rock.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in. Where is the rock from?

It's KP Aquatics LR. It's been in there for about 6 months before I noticed it. I'm guessing it's some sort of filter feeding invert by the way it keeps it's "mouth" open

Definitely not an abandoned feather duster tube. Might be a tunicate (harmless filter-feeder)... or an alien.

Yeah I'm leaning toward trunicate after doing some reading

Agreed that it's a tunicate, though I don't know what species. I'd guess (I don't know for sure) it's from the Pyuridae family though.
