It dangles from my macro and moves around in the current and retracts.

It looks like a root lol but I'm guessing a baby bristle worm but there were 2 of them dangling in the current as if possibley filter feeding. The pic is bad cuz I had to zoom in and couldn't focus on it because it's so small.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it, a Digitate hydroid. Google that and see. I had then get in my tank from a zoa frag almost lost my fire and ice because the hydroid kept irritating it. I picked them off only for it to return. I finally super glued them when they went into their hole. Done and Done!
Looks like a hydroid.

+1. Digitate hydroid. I have a few. Hope you don't get a breakout of them.

This is exactly what it is. Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've never seen one b4. I tried to research them but didn't turn up much. Is this something I should be concerned of and eradicate?

I did some more research and there's a lot of different opinions. Guess I'll jus have to see how this plays out.

I have these in my tank and have for a long time. I've read that they can irritate corals, but they've cause me no problems and their population seems to have actually gone down over time.

If they are near corals they can and will irritate them. Yes, they do multiply quickly. IMO I would remove them if possible. My problem is I kept trying to remove them from the rock, but if you don't get all of it, the hydroid will grow back. My only successful method of removal was to superglue it in the rock it is in. Also works on aiptasia.

So far I've only found them in my macro but I'm sure I'll start finding the elsewhere. I'll try to get em out right now. Thanks again everyone it helps a ton!
