Vermedit snail is the most likely culprit

Is it good or bad?
They're generally considered harmless filter feeders. However, their numbers can get extreme and bother corals if the food supply is in over abundance in your tank. Their numbers usually self regulate with how much food is available in the tank.

Right now it’s only fish and live rock. If they start to get out of hand what is the best way to get rid of them

Unfortunately I am unaware of any natural predators. But I've been told a small dab of superglue on the end of the tube will starve them out and help keep their numbers in check somewhat. #reefsquad any predators or suggestions?

You can snap them off at the base and remove them. Helps keep their numbers down. It's work and you won't get them all that way. At least that's the way I've dealt with them.

As @crabs_mcjones has said, they will come and go depending on foods available.

Thanks guys. I only noticed them on 3 pieces of rock so I took them out and started scrapping away got a really good chunk of them of

So I recently added a dog face puffer to my tank and now all of these vermedit snails are gone. He got into my tank and went straight to work eating them.

Wow how interesting, they will eat just about anything.

Unfortunately not a valid option in many tanks secondary to size of both fish and tanks.
