Hi!

I just got a new frag that was advertised as a "leng sy undata" but I believe its actually a white monti (new to coral so please correct me if I am wrong)! It has cracks underneath near the base. These weird white tubes are coming out of the cracks. Is this normal or is it a pest? Is the frag doomed or do I just not know monti anatomy very well? Currently in dip solution - no critters that I can tell. No QT setup yet - so I'm hesitant to add it to the DT.

Thanks and I appreciate any input! Relatively new to the forums so please let me know if I posted this in the wrong forum. Thanks!

Hard to tell, but it could be either a feather duster tube or vermetid snail tube

So a duster I can live with but a quick google of the vermetid tells me I want that out! Thanks for your thoughts.

Will I harm the frag if I take tweezers and pull the tube out of the cracks? I just read that someone super glues the cracks after pulling things out. Smart or should I let nature take its course?

You'll likely shatter the tube trying to pull it out. If it isnt already dead just put a small dab of superglue on the tip of the tube to starve it out and let the monti grow over it :)

I had a vermitid growing out the top of my monti and I crushed it. The monti started growing over it right away and now its a 6 inch shelf all because of that vermitid

Thanks guys! Glued up and back in action. Much appreciated.
